POPIA Notice
TrueScope’s commitment to lawful, transparent and secure processing under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act.
The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 protects personal information processed by public and private bodies and establishes minimum conditions for lawful processing.
1. Responsible party
The responsible party for this website is TrueScope (Pty) Ltd (Registration No. 2026/637909/07), unless a service-specific agreement expressly identifies another responsible TrueScope entity.
Physical address: Zwavelpoort AH, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, 0081. Postal address: P.O. Box 11558, Silver Lakes, Pretoria, South Africa. Privacy and POPIA requests may be sent through hello@truescope.co.za or by WhatsApp to 061 378 2612.
2. Our processing commitments
TrueScope aims to apply POPIA’s conditions for lawful processing through:
- Accountability: assigning responsibility for privacy compliance.
- Processing limitation: collecting information lawfully, fairly and only where adequate and relevant.
- Purpose specification: explaining why information is collected and not keeping it longer than needed.
- Further-processing limitation: using information for compatible purposes unless another lawful basis applies.
- Information quality: taking reasonable steps to keep information accurate and complete.
- Openness: providing clear notices about processing.
- Security safeguards: using reasonable controls and requiring suitable safeguards from operators.
- Data-subject participation: enabling lawful access, correction, deletion and objection requests.
3. Your POPIA rights
- To be notified when personal information is collected and, where required, if it has been accessed by an unauthorised person.
- To ask whether TrueScope holds your personal information and request access.
- To request correction, destruction or deletion where permitted.
- To object to processing on reasonable grounds and to object to direct marketing.
- To withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
- Not to be subject to certain solely automated decisions that have legal or substantial effects, except where POPIA permits them and appropriate safeguards apply.
- To complain to the Information Regulator or institute civil proceedings where permitted.
4. Direct marketing
TrueScope will not use unsolicited electronic communications for direct marketing unless POPIA permits it. Marketing messages will identify the sender and provide a reasonable way to opt out. An opt-out request will be respected, subject to communications still required to provide a service or meet legal obligations.
5. Security compromises
If there are reasonable grounds to believe personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, TrueScope will investigate and, where POPIA requires, notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as soon as reasonably possible, subject to any lawful delay.
6. Complaints
Start by emailing hello@truescope.co.za. If the matter is not resolved, a complaint may be lodged with the Information Regulator through its official complaints process. The full Act is available from the South African Government.
